If no announcement has been made by 7.30am there will be no closure. May I remind you that school will only close in the event of heavy snowfall.

WHOLE SCHOOL TARGETS

This year, we are developing the children's non-fiction writing skills and continue to improve problem solving skills in Maths. We are currently working towards our International Schools Award.

MILK MONEY

The last day for payment of milk money is Monday 12 January. No orders will be accepted after that date.

ADDRESSES AND CONTACT DETAILS

It is essential that addresses and telephone numbers are kept up to date in the event of your child’s illness or other necessary contact. Please keep us informed of any changes.

P.E. KIT

PE kit must be brought to school for every PE and Games lesson. Please ensure your child is provided with a plain tee shirt and shorts. No football shirts or fashion tops/shorts. PE kit is sold in the school uniform shop after school on Wednesdays.

LETTERS/OFFERS TO PARENTS FROM SCHOOL OR AGENCIES OUTSIDE SCHOOL

School often hands out flyers/leaflets/offers to parents etc and collects such forms expressing interest pending return to various outside organisations or school. In order to improve efficiency in this area all such forms must be returned to school within 1 week of them being sent out. School cannot accept responsibility for delayed return.

PARKING

Please park your car considerately when collecting or leaving your child and, under no circumstances park on the zig-zag lines, even for a short time. They are there to protect your child. May I also remind parents that cars may only be brought onto the school premises if you have made an appointment to see a member of staff. If you are collecting or leaving a child, please park on the road.

ENTERPRISE DAY

As part of our programme of learning for economic well-being, all the children took part in an industrious day to create saleable items for the Christmas Fair. This event was enormously enjoyed and we hope it will be an annual feature.

DINNER MONEY

If your child has a school meal at lunchtime, please forward £8.00 each week, the correct amount please as no change can be given, in a clearly labelled envelope, to your child’s class teacher. Cheques should be made payable to WCC. If you are paying for more than one child, please do not put them all in the same envelope. May I remind you that changes to dinner arrangements can be made at the beginning of each term or half-term only. Children bringing sandwiches should have their name and class number clearly marked on their lunchboxes. No cans, sweets or fizzy drinks please.

MEDICAL/DENTAL APPOINTMENTS

Children should not miss school for routine medical/dental appointments. Dental appointments should be made out of school hours or during school holidays. If, however, it is essential to make an appointment in school time, please produce the appointment card when collecting your child.

ABSENCES

Please telephone school on the first day of absence and, if the absence is prolonged, please keep us informed. Absences not reported by a parent are treated as truancy.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

Friends of Goldthorn Park sell various items of school uniform in the Infant school hall on Wednesday afternoons.

LOST PROPERTY

As it is difficult to recognise lost clothing because all the children wear the same type of uniform, it is essential that all items be named.

HOLIDAYS

I would remind parents that a holiday form must be completed for each child taken out of school during term time. Holiday forms are available from the school office. When arranging holidays, please bear in mind that any time taken out of the school term will affect your child’s progress. We strongly urge you to restrict long vacations to school holiday times.

CASH SENT INTO SCHOOL

At times, large amounts of cash are sent into school for trips and other events. It is important that all contributions are identifiable. Please, therefore, ensure that any money sent into school is sent in an envelope, clearly labelled with your child’s name, class number and details of the event.

If you would like a copy of this Newsletter in Punjabi they will be available on request at the beginning of next term.
